Groningen: Nightlife
Eating out in the cityMuller, a restaurant awarded with a Michelin star, is located in the Kromme Elleboog, as is the Soestdijk pub serving meals with the family of Orange as its central theme. Photographs of the Royal Family, crowns, even the dishes have royal names. Or go out to dine in the Via Vecchia, Groningen’s Mediterranean street, or be taken to the only beach club in Groningen by a limousine from the city centre: the Paviljoen Kaap Hoorn at the Hoornsemeer.
Theatres
The city theatre is one of the most beautiful in the Netherlands. The red plush of the theatre halls and the chic foyer guarantee an evening of style. The Martiniplaza with its musicals, the Grand Theatre with its private productions, the Oosterpoort with its classical and pop concerts, or Images (film theatre and cafe); each one guarantees a wonderful evening out.
Pub-crawl
Groningen is known for its bustling nightlife. As may be expected of a genuine student city, pubs and discos are crowded every night. The Grote Markt (3) is the heart of nightlife, and the Poelestraat, Kromme Elleboog, and the Peperstraat are also excellent pub-crawl locations. Because Groningen has no fixed closing hours, the party may continue until late. After all: time flies when you’re having fun …
