Workshop: The dummy’s guide to publishing
Do you have exciting research findings to share with the world? Unfortunately, the information stored in your brain and laptop computer does not magically appear in a journal. It takes real work to get a paper published. But it can be enjoyable – if you have some idea about how to do it! Here is a chance for you to understand publishing from a journal editor’s perspective.
In this interactive workshop, you will guided through a step-by-step overview of the publication process. We will consider what editors look for and why that matters. How do you actually write your paper? Once it is written, how do you submit it to a journal? Find out how journals deal with papers they receive. No question is too basic!
Through practical exercises based around BMJ and Student BMJ papers, you will have the chance to practise the principles we discuss. This will enable you to develop the publication mindset you need to further your scientific career.
