SCIENCE UP THE WORLD 15TH INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CONGRESS OF MEDICAL SCIENCES JUNE 3RD - 6TH 2008

Innovations

In our aim to become a leading forum in worldwide research exchange between medical students, we try to improve every year. Last year we added dentistry to our program. and adjusted part of our programme especially for dentistry students. We had a dentistry workshop, it was possible for dentistry students to participate in the ISCOMS Research Fellowship (IRF) and we even had a key-note speaker who gave a presentation about "The Essence of Orthodontic Force". One of our goals is to offer a wide variety of medical sciences. We want our programme to include not only the obvious Medicine part, but also Life, Science & technology, Human Movement Sciences, Pharmacie and Dentistry.

Furthermore, in 2006 we started an ambassador programme, which provided us with a  worldwide network of ISCOMS ambassadors. We selected participants from all over the world to become Ambassadors for their Universities. This was done in order to increase our acquaintance all around the globe. We will try to expand our network of ambassadors again this year. If you want to know more about the ambassador programme, some ambassadors even wrote down their experiences, you can read about it here.

Last year was the very first time ISCOMS had a full, two-day program. During these two days there were oral presentations, poster sessions, plenary presentations, workshops and key-note lectures spread out over two days. For 2008 we will try to optimize this concept, which will give presenting participants more time for their presentations and discussion. This will increase the quality of the congress in general and gives us the oppotunity to grow in quantity as well.

Because we think students from all over the world should have the possibility to visit our congress we're trying to arrange more visa in 2008. This way we want to minimize the number of students that aren't able to visit ISCOMS through a lack of visa. We will try to accomplish this by seeking support from the WHO and the Dutch ambassies.
