Accommodation
During ISCOMS 2008, facilities can be arranged for you. You can indicate on your registration form whether you want to use this service. You can either choose to stay in the house of a student who attends a biomedical study in Groningen or in a room of the ISCOMS accommodation. These two options contain the following:Student:
You stay in the house of a Dutch student. The student also has an admission ticket for ISCOMS 2008 and may be able to show you around the student city of Groningen. The number of students that live in a student house varies, e.g. you may end up in a house with two students, but it is also possible that you may end up in a house with eight others. You will probably have a roommate. When you choose to stay in a student house, you can indicate the period you wish to stay (which differs from the ISCOMS accommodation where the dates are predetermined). The period you wish to stay has to be agreed between you and the student who you are staying with. You also agree upon whether you have to bring your own bed linen. Breakfast will be provided.
Price: 15 euro a night
ISCOMS accommodation (limited availability):
This accommodation is located at 2 different places. The first is a large building near the centre of the town, with room for up to 340 students. Here you have your own room with a bed, desk, chair, closet and internet connection. You share the kitchen, bath room and toilet with students across the hall. The other students are all abroad so the working language is English. There are several living rooms in the building, where one can watch TV at night or have a drink with other students. As you have your own room, you will have more privacy at the ISCOMS accommodation but you do have to provide for your own breakfast.
Aside from this main building, you may be placed at another location in the centre of Groningen. Here you will sleep with one or two other students in a clean room. This facility is quite comparable with the description of the other location of the ISCOMS accommodation above. The ISCOMS 2008 organisation is responsible for the room allocation when you choose for ISCOMS accommodation.
Price: 30 euro a night. A bed linen package costs 20 euro. If you do not wish to use this service, you have to bring your own.
NB: If you choose for this kind of facility, you can only choose out of the following staying periods:
Monday 2 till Friday 6 June (4 nights)
Tuesday 3 till Friday 6 June (3 nights)
Monday 2 till Saturday 7 June (5 nights)
Tuesday 3 till Saturday 7 June (4 nights)
If you wish to visit earlier or stay longer, you will have to arrange your own facilities or consider staying in a student house.
