SCIENCE UP THE WORLD 15^TH INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CONGRESS OF MEDICAL SCIENCES JUNE 3^RD - 6^TH 2008

Social Programme

Besides the scientific programme, the ISCOMS offers a wide range of social activities. For those who arrive early on Tuesday (3 June), we organize two tours: one around the Medical Centre of the University of Groningen and the other around the city centre. That evening there will be the opportunity to get to know other presenting participants during a nice dinner. After a full day of interesting research presentations and workshops we will have a buffet for everybody. Besides eating and drinking there will be a workshop (last year there was a line dance workshop) and some dancing. On Thursday night the scientific programme may be over, but the social isn’t! After the most extensive dinner of this week there’ll be a Global Village Party: travel around the whole world and experience a lot of different cultures. Because there will be no congress day the day after so this party will go on till the break of dawn!

Be sure you’ll set your alarm clock early on Friday, because we’ll leave for the Post Congress Tour with a group of 100 people. This will be a day to explore some more of the Netherlands. It will be a relaxing but active day! Last year we went to Schiermonnikoog, one of the five Wadden-islands of the Netherlands. We took a dive in the North Sea, rode tandem bikes and ended the day with a beach barbeque. That was a real success! If you want to enjoy this wonderful day, you’ll have to be quick, because only 100 people can join us!

As you probably already noticed, the ISCOMS is not only a good opportunity to expand your scientific network, it is also a place to make a lot of fun and meet other medical students from all over the world. You will get to know more about the research they are doing and about their country they come from. Enough reasons not to miss this event. So we hope to see you in June!
