Scientific Programme
Scientific Programme Committee This year the Scientific Programme (SP) committee consists of a pair of ISCOMS veterans and a few newly appointed and enthusiastic members. Our qualities perhaps lie in our diversity in the years we have all been at university, our different areas of interest regarding high quality research, and an obvious knack for teamwork. The five of us have the opportunity to give this international congress scientific depth, an endeavour we all take seriously.
Students from around the world will be able to present their research in a number of ways. Special attention shall be given to oral presentations, poster presentations, and plenary sessions in a large auditorium. Of special interest are the keynote speakers whose research has gained international acclaim. They shall present their work to all participants and hopefully infuse us all with their enthusiasm and insight for scientific research. The international character and the diversity of topics treated will give this congress a unique position in the rapidly changing age of information. It is therefore our responsibility to find a working balance between excellent research and the sometimes overwhelming variety of subject matter. In the meantime it is important to remember our role as educators in giving students the chance to improve their presenting skills, for example.
The Scientific Programme committee is also involved with the various Graduate Schools in Groningen. Our relationship has developed to form a comprehensive programme following the ISCOMS congress, aptly named the ISCOMS Research Fellowship, or IRF. This programme is a great way to introduce yourself to the possibilities of doing top-level research in the Netherlands. In short we are committed to provide an intense programme over the course of two days during which you shall be challenged to think about a broad range of topics, participate in workshops and possibly plan for a future in medical sciences. We hope to see you in June!
Yours sincerely, The Scientific CommitteeSophie Coffeng
